Canal Vauting

This is a very strange and funny sport, I m going to tell about Canal Vaulting.

The sport involves a long pole and a body of water. The pole is between 8 and 13 m long and has a flat round plate at the bottom to prevent it from sinking into the canal bottom.
A jump consists of a sprint to the pole, jumping and grabbing it, then climbing to the top of the pole while trying to control its forward and lateral movements over a body of water, and finishing by landing on a sand bed opposite to the starting point.

Chess Boxing

Chess boxing is a hybrid sport combines chess with boxing in alternating rounds. The sport was seen for the first time at a boxing club in South London, after being conceived by siblings James and Stewart Robinson, both keen amateur boxers and club chessplayers.
The modern concept of chess boxing was introduced in Berlin by Iepe Rubingh where it quickly developed a dedicated and enthusiastic following. He founded the World Chess Boxing Organisation (WCBO) in 2003 in Berlin and the first ever chessboxing club in 2005.
A full match consists of eleven rounds: six rounds of chess, each three (WCBO) / four (WCBA) minutes long, and five rounds of boxing, each three minutes long (four minutes under amateur rules). The match begins with a chess round which is followed by a boxing round. Rounds of chess and boxing alternate until the end of the match. There is a one-minute break between each round, during which competitors cool out and change gear.A competitor may win the match during a boxing round by knockout or a technical stoppage by the referee, by achieving a check mate or if the opponent's twelve minutes run out during a chess round, or by the opponent's resignation at any point. If a competitor fails to make a move during the chess round, he can be issued a warning after which he must make a legal move within the next 10 seconds or become disqualified.
The players wear closed-back headphones during the chess rounds to avoid being distracted by the live chess commentary, or hearing advice shouted from the audience

Skeleton

Skeleton is a fast winter sliding sport in which a person rides a small sled down a frozen track while lying face down, during which the rider experiences forces up to 5 and reaches speeds over 130 km/h (80 mph). The sport was named from the bony appearance of the sled. It was added to the Olympic program for the 2002 Winter Olympics; previously, it had been in the Olympic program only in StMoritzSwitzerland, in 1928 and 1948
Skeleton, which takes place on the same track or “run” as thebobsleigh, starts with a running "push" phase, after which the athlete dives onto the sled and descends the track. Athletes were stretched, facing downhill, with arms at their sides, steering the skeleton with movements of their body.
The major competitions of non-Olympic seasons include the World Championships and World Cups, held annually. The rankings and results from these competitions determine the starting positions for future races. The track becomes less smooth after each successive run; thus, the negative effect on run times makes earlier starts in the lineup more desirable. Based on the overall performance of a country, the FIBT determines which countries may participate in the Olympic games.

Curling

It's a precision team sport practiced in an ice rink . Two teams of four players compete against each other by sliding granite stones of 20 kg each on an ice corridor about 45.5 meters long and 4.75 meters wide.

The other team members ( sweepers ) provided with brushes go along with each stone acting on the ice surface to slide it or change its direction, but never touching the stone. After making all the throws , points are awarded based on the proximity of these stones to the labeled target in the center down the hall.

Due to this rule , a team always has to reach the "end" of the rink . If no stones reach  the target is considered a tie . A normal game is played from 8-10 throws which are called sleeves . At the end of the game, wins the highest scoring team and in the event of a tie , it is decided in an extra sleeve. It is mandatory that the team that wins a sleeve begins the following one.
